This morning, we had the privilege of hosting a Veterans Day Breakfast to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all veterans for their service, dedication, and courage. ❤️🤍💙

Butter Braid Delivery Change
Due to a delivery change, we are asking parents to please pick up their Butter Braid Order on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, instead of Friday, November 14, 2025. Our delivery is scheduled between the hours of 1pm-2pm. We plan to have orders sorted and ready for pick up at 4:30-5:00 pm. If you wish to pick at an earlier time, you must notify the school office via phone or email (smurphy@springlake606.org) and we will try to accommodate your request. Thank you for your support! -PTC

Our PTC has graciously volunteered to put together grocery bags for any families of Spring Lake students who are in need. If this is something that would be helpful for your family, please contact the office before Wednesday, November 12. All requests will remain anonymous.

We had a special visit from Ms. Amanda with the TCHD (Tazewell County Health Department)! She gave our K-2 students an engaging presentation on the importance of good hygiene and handwashing. Using a glow light activity, we got to see just how easily germs can spread and how well (or not so well!) we’re washing our hands. It was a fun and eye-opening lesson that reminded everyone how small actions can make a big difference in keeping our school healthy!

Congratulations, Spring Lake Students and Staff, on achieving Exemplary Designation on the Illinois School Report Card. Receiving Exemplary Status means that our school is performing in the top 10% of all schools in Illinois. We are so proud of the staff and students at Spring Lake Elementary!

🎃 Trunk or Treat 2025 was a spooktacular success! 👻 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for an afternoon full of fun, creativity, and community spirit! Our students, families, and staff went all out with amazing costumes, festive trunks, and plenty of Halloween cheer.

Today, our curious K–2 scientists put their engineering skills to the test! Using only tin foil, they were challenged to design and build a boat that could float — and hold as much candy corn as possible. After lots of creative designs and careful testing, Emma and Haylah built the winning boat, which held an impressive 54 candy corn pieces before sinking!

First grade is getting into the fall and Halloween spirit! 🍁🎃 This month, our students learned all about pumpkins, and today, they even carved one! They combined math and science by counting all the seeds, grouping them by tens and then hundreds for a grand total of 546 seeds! One of the seeds had already started to sprout, so our young scientists planted it to watch it grow. 🌱 We can’t wait to see what happens next!

Make sure you are checking your child’s lunch accounts on a regular basis. If your child is ordering double lunches, there will be a balance on there that you will need to pay. If you do not want them ordering doubles, please have a conversation with them about this. Thank you!

🖍️ Learning Good Manners in Action! 🏠 This week in Social Emotional Learning, our 3-6th grade students are studying the modern manner: “Treat Others’ Homes with Respect.” Students worked in groups to create colorful posters teaching younger kids how to be great guests — with reminders like pick up after you play, ask before using things, and say please and thank you. We’re so proud of their teamwork, creativity, and thoughtful ideas! 💛
