Today, our curious K–2 scientists put their engineering skills to the test! Using only tin foil, they were challenged to design and build a boat that could float — and hold as much candy corn as possible.
After lots of creative designs and careful testing, Emma and Haylah built the winning boat, which held an impressive 54 candy corn pieces before sinking!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 Join us for PTC’s trunk-or-treat at 11:30am. School dismisses at 12:00pm. Don’t forget - Butter Braid orders are due today!

First grade is getting into the fall and Halloween spirit! 🍁🎃 This month, our students learned all about pumpkins, and today, they even carved one! They combined math and science by counting all the seeds, grouping them by tens and then hundreds for a grand total of 546 seeds!
One of the seeds had already started to sprout, so our young scientists planted it to watch it grow. 🌱 We can’t wait to see what happens next!

Make sure you are checking your child’s lunch accounts on a regular basis. If your child is ordering double lunches, there will be a balance on there that you will need to pay. If you do not want them ordering doubles, please have a conversation with them about this. Thank you!

🖍️ Learning Good Manners in Action! 🏠
This week in Social Emotional Learning, our 3-6th grade students are studying the modern manner: “Treat Others’ Homes with Respect.”
Students worked in groups to create colorful posters teaching younger kids how to be great guests — with reminders like pick up after you play, ask before using things, and say please and thank you.
We’re so proud of their teamwork, creativity, and thoughtful ideas! 💛

We invite you to join us in honoring the veterans and active-duty military members of our community for their service and dedication.
To RSVP, please contact the office at (309) 545-2241, or complete and return the attached form by Friday, November 7.

🚒 Thank You, Forman Fire Department! 🚒
A huge thank-you to the Forman Fire Department for visiting our school today! Our K–2 students had a blast touring the fire truck and learning about firefighter gear. Meanwhile, our 3–6 graders got hands-on experience mastering the fire extinguisher.
We appreciate you taking the time to teach our students about fire safety and keeping our community safe every day! ❤️🔥👩🚒

🔥🚒 Our First Graders Are Fire Safety Experts! 🚒🔥
This week, our first graders combined Fire Prevention Week with their Life Skill of the Week — learning all about safety and preparedness!
They discussed fire stations, discovered different types of fire trucks, learned about fire prevention, and planned what to do in case of a fire.
We’re so proud of our young learners for becoming more confident, responsible, and ready to stay safe! 👩🚒👨🚒🧯

🧬 SuperSTEM Fun for 3rd–6th Graders! 🦣🐦
This afternoon, our 3rd–6th grade students explored an exciting SuperSTEM lesson! They learned how scientists are using preserved DNA to bring back extinct animals, then studied the dodo bird and woolly mammoth in depth.
Students chose which animal they would bring back and wrote thoughtful rationales for their decisions. They then gathered data from classmates, created colorful bar graphs to show results, and finished by designing persuasive posters to convince others of their choice.
It was a fantastic day of critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in STEM! 💡📊✨

🌿🦋 Meet Lori, our favorite Monarch guardian!
Every summer, Lori has a very special mission — collecting monarch butterfly eggs from milkweed. From May through September, she carefully gathers eggs as part of the Central Illinois Monarch Butterfly Task Force. These butterflies will begin their incredible journey, migrating from Canada through central Illinois and all the way to Mexico this fall.
We’re so grateful to be a small part of this amazing cycle of nature — and thankful for people like Lori who help protect these beautiful creatures year after year. 💛

Kindergarten, first, and second-grade students had fun creating picture collages with a box!
